I always say that it's so Nas that one of his best albums wasn't meant to be an album. Without the Internet and with a bit of quality control to see Nastradamus cancelled and the tracks originally cut for it reinstated, I Am... could have been an excellent single disc autobiography if a track like Fetus is anything to go by; it is indeed 'sublime,' as you put it. In keeping with God's Son, some of the tracks on The Lost Tapes are truly harrowing too. All in all, between this and God's Son, 2002 was the last year that Nas was a force to be reckoned with IMO.
